I've gotten two more letters since I last posted. A letter came from Australia the other day, and this afternoon I received one from a fellow in Tennessee. I really loved the letter from Tennessee because he wrote about writing and poetry and his experiences with small press. I just love independent publishing, especially for something like poetry. He even sent me a great little zine of poetry from Lilliput Press. Anyone that sends me a zine, is automatically on my "favorite people" list!
I have four letters to return before I even get to respond back to him, which is what I shall do this afternoon and this evening. The past few days, I have been making crocheted backpacks and got no letter-writing done at all. But it's all about keeping balanced.

Words From Japan!
I received a new penfriend from Japan, yesterday. Excellent match up! Her letter was fantastic and I have a feeling that we will be penfriends for a long time!

A Couple of Envelopes
Yesterday evening, I wanted to fix up a few envelopes to start gathering up a collection again. I finished a couple of them, so far. This one...
And this one...
...The one I am still working on is a bit ambitious! Geez, I remember I used to do this kind of thing all of the time back in the 90's when I was penpalling regularly via The Letter Exchange! It's been a while!

Grrrr ... Computer Crashes!
It is annoying enough whenever the computer crashes, but it seems to happen most, at the worse times!
I was listing a few items onto my TwoBirds Shop when everything froze just before I was going to post it! Now that it is up again, I am simply too exhausted to go through that now ... It'll have to wait until after I have had at least a few hours of sleep, but here is a peek at one of the cards I was listing...
The quote on the front reads:
"Let us
be silent
that we may
hear the whispers
of the gods."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
One More Letter Written, and Then Some
I managed to get another intro letter written! Ridiculous, considering how late it is. But I had a little oomph left to me and I'd rather get those letters moving! So now there are three that will go out with the mailman when he comes to deliver and pick up, in a few hours. That's just such a good feeling to take the time to write to someone.
Another kind of good feeling is when I can learn how to make something new ... My daughter learned how, and then taught me how to make pompom balls a few hours ago. I took a photo of the first one:
I made 3 more afterward. I can already tell that this is going to be a slight obsession for a week or two, because I have already thought of several things to do with them!

Two More Down (and almost) Out
I got two more introductory letters written this evening. They'll go out in the afternoon mail. I was a bit lazy decorating the first envelope...
but got a bit of a burst to do something with the second one...

It was kinda funny that the piece of paper I grabbed to cover the return address for this photo was the receipt from the post office ... I just had to play with that!

An Offer I Cannot Refuse
As a rule, I limit my penpalling to snailmail. However, I received an offer of friendship from a woman around my age, for whom it is best to email. She is from Vienna, and seems quite pleasant and engaging. I am sure that I do not have it in me to turn down an opportunity to make a new friend from Austria - it having been, for quite some time once, the only country in Europe that I desperately wanted to visit! I have since added to the list of places in Europe that I wish to see, such as Spain, Turkey, Greece, Norway, Latvia, Hungary ... all over the U.K., particularly Cornwall and Hexam. But Austria still rules, if it can only be one. So, it looks like I shall be having one e-pal, as well!

Back To Life!
The fact that I'm penpalling again, is the ultimate indication that I am back to me old self! :D
Last week, I mailed out 7 letters. Two to guys inthe states - one in Minnesota, one in Oklahoma. Minnesota wrote to me first. Oklahoma and I will be exchanging sketches. All of the other five were to women who live outside of the United States. Scotland, Australia, The Netherlands x 2, and Finland. Very cool women! What's more, I have four (or is it five?) - more to write and send this week! The first one in response to an AMAZING letter I received from a gtreat Lakota woman in Montana ... The penpal life - it's a good life!
